Motorcycles

When you're out for a ride, it feels like it should just be you, your bike, and the road. Whether you ride for pleasure or to get from A to B, each ride is unique and relies on your skills and set up to keep you safe.

Mistakes happen and they happen quickly. While you're riding, you're monitoring other people and vehicles on the road, the road surface and layout, weather conditions, and potential hazards. Your skill and fatigue levels are important factors too.

As a motorcycle or moped rider, you're more vulnerable to injury than other people on the road. There are steps you can take before, during, and after a ride to help you stay safe.

In the sections below you can find out more about those steps plus the work being done to improve safety on motorcycling routes around New Zealand. You can also learn from some real riders who have shared their stories in our current safety advertising campaign.
