Work on our new safety camera sites in Northland, Auckland, and Waikato is progressing. Some of the cameras are active and detecting speeding now.
We’re also starting to take over permanent cameras from the NZ Police.
During the transfer period, NZTA and police will issue infringement notices from different safety cameras. When the transfer is complete, we’ll issue all notices from cameras. Police officers will continue to issue notices for the offences they detect.
This section is regularly updated. Last update: 15 July 2024.
When cameras are in testing, we don't enforce offences, and data is deleted when the test ends.
When a camera on our network becomes active and detects speeding, we’ll issue safety camera notices from that camera.
