NTRO’s Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicle (iPAVE) will be surveying New Zealand’s State Highway Network annually, collecting vital data and providing information to determine future road maintenance and prioritise repairs and upgrades.
Data will be collected at traffic speed in a single pass, measuring both functional and structural conditions of the pavement at the same time. This will assist transport asset managers to make more informed decisions of where to spend maintenance dollars.
The iPAVE features deflection measurement technology, dual high-definition LiDAR, ground penetrating radar, real-time data processing and validation, more self-cleaning cameras, and pavement strength in both left and right wheel paths.
