When a bridge is washed away, one of the fastest ways of replacing it is with a Bailey bridge. These temporary bridges are like giant kitsets, which can be packaged up and sent where they need to go—and it takes a skilled team to put them together.

Bailey bridges are installed in some places where existing bridges have been damaged or washed away. A Bailey bridge is a prefabricated single-lane bridge that can be installed relatively quickly—anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
