The state highway network, valued at $25 billion, is an essential asset for the productivity of New Zealand. The network provides efficient and reliable travel to almost half of all vehicle traffic and 70% of freight traffic. We run 24/7 services to ensure that traffic flows well and we respond to events as soon as we can. Managing and running an asset of this size and complexity requires planning, especially if we are to respond to the needs of our stakeholders and customers. We plan at both the longer term horizon (through our State Highway Activity Management Plan), and in more detail for the upcoming year (through our State Highway Plan).
