Crews will complete an asphalt rebuild at SH45 South Road in New Plymouth between Kōpiri Place and Belair Avenue from 5 to 17 January 2025, weather permitting. Work will take place at night (7pm-6am) under stop/go traffic controls, with delays of approximately 5-10 minutes.

The work will take place alongside New Plymouth District Council’s safety improvements, which are ongoing along SH45 between Barrett Road and Belair Avenue until March 2025.

  • From Monday 6 January to Friday 17 January, the asphalt rebuild will take place along SH45 South Road between Kōpiri Place and Belair Avenue under stop/go traffic controls at night (7pm-6am).
  • Some of the asphalt rebuild works may also take place during the day alongside the safety improvements under contraflow (two-way) traffic controls, to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • During the work, access to and from sideroads adjacent to South Road (SH45) may be impacted however alternative routes will be available.

This work forms part of the Government’s $2.07 billion investment into road and drainage renewal and maintenance across 2024-27 through the State Highway Pothole Prevention fund.
