In June 2024, crews completed the installation of a new permanent culvert on State Highway 4 (SH4) at the Paroparowhero Stream, north of Taumarunui, to replace a temporary culvert that was installed following damage caused by heavy rain in late 2022. The rain damaged the previous culvert and created a large hole in the northbound lane.
The road has been held with a temporary seal over the winter months, but now that we’re heading into the warmer summer months, crews are returning to site to complete a permanent rebuild of the road.
