Safety on the road is one of our top priorities, and a key driver of many of our operating decisions and project developments on the state highway network. With a focus on reducing deaths and serious injuries on the roads, we constantly explore new opportunities and develop new initiatives. We aim to achieve safer roads and roadsides, safer vehicles, safer drivers and safer speeds.
The NZTA Safety team provide guidelines on the use of engineering to make our roads safe. This section provides supplementary guidance and advice about the use of different safety systems and interpretation of the new Austroads Guides and any necessary New Zealand specific variations.
