Quality assurance processes are measured and adjusted when desired outcomes are not achieved.

Measuring the following process areas will provide information about the effectiveness of quality assurance on projects and the analysis of these results should lead to opportunities for improvement.

Design validation

Provides feedback on how well construction has met the design intent.

Departures

Provides feedback on how well the specifications were stipulated in the contract, the constructability of designs and specifications and the competencies of the contractor.

Requests for information (RFI)

Provides feedback on how clear and constructible issued for construction (IFC) documents (drawings and specifications) are, and/or constructors ability to interpret these for realisation into compliant deliverables.

Design changes

Provides feedback on the cause and impact of design changes during construction.

Non-conformances

Provides feedback on the quality of delivery against the contract specification.

Progressive close-out

Provides feedback on the lag-time from work lot completion to the availability of the quality assurance evidence, and the effectiveness of the construction quality management plan.

Quality audits

Provides feedback on compliance with the construction quality management plan.

Quality meetings

Provides feedback on engagement, participation and responsiveness to actions.

Commissioning and handover

Provides feedback on the quality of the ‘Asset lifecycle culture’ driven by project leaders.
