Developing a fit-for-purpose Asset Management Data Standard

|

Getting feedback from the sector is an important step in developing a national asset management data standard for land transport.

This short update is about the work being done to develop a data standard and release of draft content to the sector for feedback.

Development of the data standard is being led by a project team at Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, supported by a group of subject matter experts. This work is being informed by New Zealand and international standards, as well as examples of good practice from around the world.

The data standard will include guiding principles along with specifications related to data attributes, characteristics, properties, location and performance.

Following some initial testing with groups of subject matter experts and users, the draft data standard will be released for feedback to the wider sector.

This advice will be essential to make sure the asset management data standard is fit-for-purpose. Only then can it contribute, as intended, to the safety, resilience and reliability of New Zealand’s land transport system.
