Test methods for epoxy modified open-graded porous asphalt

NZTA T21 Test methods for epoxy modified open-graded porous asphalt (version 1.0) sets out laboratory-based procedures to assess the quality of epoxy modified binders and the durability of epoxy modified open-graded porous asphalt mixes.

The areas covered by the specification include:

  • determination of the epoxy content of the asphalt binder by infra-red spectroscopy
  • determination of the epoxy content of the asphalt binder by fast neutron activation
  • assessment of the durability of epoxy bitumen formulations for approval.

NZTA T21 is a new document that standardises and publishes laboratory procedures in current use.
