How to make submissions
Anyone can make a submission on a draft rule following its release for public comment. Here are some key points to assist you.
Before making your submission
We suggest reading the supporting information material accompanying the draft rule, for example:
- the consultation document and overview
- questions and answers
- any accompanying media releases.
What information should you include with your submission?
- the title of the rule
- your name and designation, if applicable
- your organisation’s name, if applicable
- your email address
- the number of the proposal from the overview/consultation document you are commenting on or the provision numbers in the draft rule. (Note: you don’t have to comment on all rule proposals.)
How do you make a submission?
- An online submission form is usually available on the website to make a submission on a draft rule.
- Alternatively, you can send your submission by email to rules@nzta.govt.nz
Confidentiality
Submissions on rules are public information. Please note the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi may publish any information you submit, and may identify you as the submitter should it publish your submission or provide it to a third party.
You should indicate clearly:
- if your comments are commercially sensitive
- if for some other reason of confidentiality, they should not be disclosed,
- any reason why you should not be identified as a submitter.
