Land transport infrastructure has been identified as a major contributor to climate change through the carbon emissions generated from the infrastructure itself (upfront construction emissions and maintenance emissions) and the use of it (operational emissions).
This research sought to understand the carbon footprint of all land transport infrastructure (road and rail) in Aotearoa New Zealand to assist Waka Kotahi and other transport authorities in targeting emissions reductions.
