This specification covers size, function and performance requirements for self-illuminating raised pavement markers which are attached directly to the road surface with or without stubs inserted into the pavement. The markers may stand proud of the road surface or be set flush with it.
This specification is based on advice from pavement marker manufacturers and overseas practice, and consultation has been undertaken with interested parties in New Zealand.
The 2023 version of M29 introduces more appropriate chromaticity colour co-ordinate specifications that relate to LEDs versus static raised pavement markers, has absorbed the previous Notes and includes information relating to compliance testing, installation and maintenance.
