The launches of the Safer Journey’s initiative and the Decade of Action for Road Safety have brought the way we design for safety into focus. The purpose of this document is to define the Safe System philosophy for dual carriageway roads and how this may vary with context. In particular these guidelines are intended for use on all the roads of national significance (RoNS) projects.
