The Bridge descriptive system is used for maintaining up-to-date structural information for all structures on the state highway network that are sensitive to overweight vehicle loads, and is used by OPermit to assist with the evaluation of overweight permit applications for travel on the state highway network.

The purpose of this guideline is to provide all users of the Bridge Descriptive System (BDS) details of how to operate the application. It also defines the role each party plays in ensuring the database is kept up to date.
