Basecourse aggregates (M4)

Published: | Category: Construction , Pavement & surfacing , Specifications | Audiences: Road traffic engineers & consultants, Roading contractors

M04 Specification for basecourse aggregate and accompanying Notes sets out requirements for basecourse aggregate for use on state highways and other heavily trafficked roadways.  M04 is the reference or standard specification for primary basecourse for heavy duty use in flexible pavements with thin surfacings.

This update to M04 provides for a range of material quality, or Class, depending on pavement loadings.  It also introduces a statistical process control approach for determining compliance with M04 particle size distribution requirements.
