Criteria for approval to become a basic handling skills test examiner (motorcycles)

This guidance sets out the process for applying to be a basic motorcycle handling skills test (BHST) examiner.

The applicant must:

  • complete an application form
  • hold a current ‘I’ 6 (motorcycle driving instructor endorsement) on their driver licence
  • include a CV detailing experience of recent riding experience, including any professional motorcycle training, instruction, mentoring and ongoing professional development
  • include a copy of a sample register that will be used to maintain details of BHST candidates.
