This document outlines general guidelines for identifying, assessing and managing soil contamination in relation to Waka Kotahi activities. It identifies the steps that need to be taken to manage contaminated land and provides consistency in the way that contaminated land is managed across Waka Kotahi activities.
The primary audience for this guidance is Waka Kotahi project managers, network managers, and consent planners and suppliers who may have overall responsibility for planning and executing a project or activity that may have contaminated land requirements. While the document has been produced for Waka Kotahi use, many of the concepts and legislative requirements are likely to be applicable for other roading controlling authorities.
