It is recommended that all EV charging sites are signposted using Transport Agency approved symbols, signs and road markings.
To understand the parking restriction and enforcement options available for a particular site, contact the local RCA.
Public sites with charging stations are those which the public has access to and which are on public land. These can be found on-road (such as next to the curb on an urban road) or off-road (such as in a public car park building operated by a local authority).
Organisations setting up charging stations on public sites must only use Transport Agency approved symbols, signs and road markings to provide information to motorists.
Find out more here about the symbols, signs and road markings that must be used for public sites with charging stations.
Private sites with charging stations are those which the public generally has access to but which are on private land. These include privately operated car parking sites, such as supermarket car parks, and privately owned and operated parking buildings.
Although organisations setting up charging stations on private sites have greater flexibility around providing information to motorists, it is recommended that Transport Agency approved symbols, signs and road markings are used to ensure consistency and promote better recognition of charging stations.
