To seek the Board’s approval to invest in the final construction phase of the NZTA’s Rangiriri Section project of the Waikato Expressway Road of National Significance (RoNS) in Waikato region.

The Board approves $90 million of NLTP funding for the main construction associated with the Rangiriri Section of the NZTA’s (SH1) Waikato Expressway Road of National Significance.
The assessment profile for the Waikato Expressway RoNS remains at High strategic fit, High effectiveness and Low economic efficiency.
The Rangiriri Section project makes a nationally significant contribution to SH1, which is a key freight and tourist route, by improving journey time reliability, more efficient freight supply chains and a safer environment for road users.
We confirm that the matters in sections 20(2) and 20 (5) of the LTMA have been satisfied, and that the matters in section 20(3) have been taken into account.
