  • $38.04 million of National Land Transport Fund funding to the Auckland Transport elements of the programme (with the total cost of those elements being estimated at $74.58 million and the funding assistance rate being 51%)

to fund the next stages of business case development and to secure designations for final preferred options ($76.30 million of National Land Transport Fund funding in total).

Reason for the decision

The Transport for Future Urban Growth programme business case is focused on addressing agreed problems, and provides evidence that there is a demonstrated gap in the projected levels of transport service needed to support Auckland’s predicted growth and development.

Programme components will provide improved certainty around:

  • decision-making (in relation to transport investment and consents)
  • removal of a development constraint
  • improved localised accessibility and travel choices

and support economic development by considering movement of goods and people throughout the Auckland region.

The immediate priority and focus is to continue to work with our co-investor partners to deliver on short to medium term projects in each growth area, as well as longer term corridor protection.

The assessment profile for this activity has been determined as being of High strategic fit, Medium effectiveness and Medium benefit cost appraisal of 3.4 to 4.8.
