To seek Board approval for a funding scope increase for the Christchurch Motorways RoNS Western Corridor.
28 February 2013
The Board approved $76m increased funding for the Harewood to Yaldhurst Section and the Western Belfast Bypass sections of the Western Corridor, bringing the total estimated cost to $295m. For the Western Corridor component of the Christchurch Motorways package, the 95th percentile would be an estimated $343m, and for the full Christchurch Motorways RoNS package the 95th percentile construction estimate increases to $890m.
The assessment profile for the Western Corridor remains at High strategic fit, High effectiveness and Low economic efficiency.
The project makes a nationally significant contribution to SH1, which is a key freight and tourist route, by improving journey time reliability and a safer environment for road users. It will improve integration with the local network through optimising the dual function of the Western Corridor for both local and through traffic and provide the Airport with improved connectivity.
