Waka Kotahi is advising motorists of the emergency overnight closure of a section of SH35 due to surface flooding caused by today’s heavy rain in the region.
Update: The planned two-day closure of SH1 Desert Road between Rangipo and Waiouru will be extended to a third day, as work is taking a little longer than we’d anticipated. This will see the road closed between 7am and 5pm on Friday 11 November.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that work is now underway to repair and upgrade State Highway 3 at Tangahoe, seven kilometres south of Hāwera.
Update: The work detailed in the traffic bulletin below has been rescheduled, and will now commence next Monday, 14 November. The work will be carried out between 6am and 6pm, Mondays to Saturdays, beginning on Monday 14 November.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency us advising motorists that temporary speed restrictions will be in place on State Highway 35 Wainui Road from 6pm Wednesday 9 November to 8am the Thursday 10 November, to allow Gisborne District Council to undertake sewer repair work.

The first of six new roundabouts between Katikati and Ōmokoroa has been built and will be open in November, with just a few final touches left to complete including line marking and installing signs and barriers.
Due to a new large slip in the Waiotahe Beach area, State Highway 2 is closed between Waiotahe Valley Back Rd & Paerata Ridge Rd, west of Ōpōtiki, and is expected to be closed for much of the day today.
