Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says work is underway to re-open flood and slip-damaged state highways on the West Coast following this week’s torrential rain.
One additional safety and quality assurance test was met last week by CPB HEB, the builder of Transmission Gully. Some of the outstanding tests require remedial work before they can be met, including the road surface and pavement and construction defects.
Work to complete pre-reseal repairs on State Highway 3 just north of the Mt. Messenger tunnel in Taranaki, will start on Monday 14 February at 10am, weather permitting. If the weather is unsuitable work will be undertaken from Wednesday 15 February.
