The NZ Transport Agency is urging motorists to stay up to date with road conditions between Opotiki and Gisborne (SH2) this weekend as heavy rain in the forecast will likely require the closure of the road through the Waioeka Gorge as a safety precaution. The most likely time of the closure, based on current forecasts, is from around midday on Sunday to midday Monday.
In order to stabilise a rock face north of Kaikōura at Ōhau Point, the NZ Transport Agency has scheduled a three day, daytime closure from Monday, 6 August to Wednesday, 8 August.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. There were smiles beaming from a new subway on Winters Road, Redwood, today as Papanui Primary School pupils made their way through for the first time.
