Physical works are underway for the construction of a bridge reconnecting State Highway 25A, to be completed by the end of March 2024. The summit of SH25A between Kōpū and Hikuai collapsed during the North Island’s major storm event in late January and remains closed.
Road reconstruction work, being carried out by the highway’s construction subcontractor, CPBHEB JV, will see a short section of State Highway 58 at Pāuatahanui closed this weekend, starting Friday 30 June.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises the Pekatahi Bridge, located north of Taneatua on State Highway 2, will close daily for structural maintenance between Monday 3 July and Thursday 6 July.
Waka Kotahi is advising motorists in south Auckland to plan ahead, with a two and a half month full closure (24/7) of the Southern Motorway (SH1) Papakura southbound loop on-ramp. A full closure of the extreme right turn lane at the Papakura southbound off-ramp will also be in place for two months.
The new Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway opened to the public in the early hours of this morning and Waka Kotahi is anticipating a reduction in congestion and improved journeys across the north Auckland transport network after the first full day of operation.
The wait is nearly over for north Aucklanders, with Ara Tūhono – Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway set to open to traffic in the coming days, following this morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony on the new road.
