Currently all state highways in the north Auckland and Northland regions are open, however surface flooding remains in many areas and motorists are urged to take extreme care.
The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 16 between Kaukapakapa and Wellsford is closed in both directions due to heavy flooding near West Coast Road.
Motorists are advised to plan their alternative routes and allow extra time for their journeys when the Kamo Bypass in Whangarei is closed for repairs starting this weekend.
