The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 3 between Mahoenui and Pio Pio is now open to a single lane with manual stop/go traffic control in place, following a tragic accident yesterday.

Motorists will need to take a detour on State highway 1 at the Deborah rail bridge south of Oamaru this Sunday, 30 March 2014 between 9am and 5pm, so Kiwirail can carry out a routine safety inspection of the Deborah rail bridge.
As part of the on-going construction of the Rangiriri section of the Waikato Expressway, motorists are advised that south-bound traffic will be detoured from State Highway 1(SH1) on to Wayside Road at the Te Kauwhata intersection this Sunday evening (30 March). The NZ Transport Agency says a temporary stop/go manual traffic operation will be in place later today on the Kaituna Bridge on State Highway 2 (SH2) south of Te Puke. This is required to ensure the safety of workers while critical strengthening works are carried out underneath the bridge deck.
Due to bridge strengthening works on the State Highway 2 (SH2) Kaituna Bridge, south of Te Puke, the NZ Transport Agency is encouraging motorists to use alternate routes through State Highway 29 or State Highway 36. Major delays are expected as temporary stop/go traffic management is in place on the bridge.
Motorists travelling along State Highway 2 (SH2) between Atuaroa Bridge and Te Puke Quarry Road just north of Te Puke Township are advised that road rehabilitation work will be undertaken over 600 metres of road starting Friday, delays of up to 20 minutes, depending on the time of the day, can be expected advises the NZ Transport Agency.
