With Labour Day creating the first long weekend after winter, state highways in Waikato and Bay of Plenty will be busy and the NZ Transport Agency is reminding drivers to plan ahead to avoid delays and stay safe.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the Shelly Beach Road southbound off ramp from State Highway 1 (SH1) in Auckland will be closed on Tuesday night (18th), Wednesday night (19th) and Thursday night (20th) October 2016, for emergency re-surfacing works.
Drivers are advised to expect significant delays getting through Templeton west of Christchurch thismorning as the highway was earlier closed due to a crash. Given the busy time of the morning, traffic is backed up.

A crash between two cars this afternoon has affected State Highway 88 at St Leonards, Dunedin. A detour using local roads is available for cars/light vehicles, however, there is no alternate route for heavy vehicles.
