The damage along State Highway 25 between Thames and Manaia has now been assessed and the Transport Agency has developed a programme which aims to complete the final repair work by the end of March, weather permitting.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that during the weekend of 20-21 January 2018, a section of Shands Road will be closed (between approximately 374 and 523 Shands Road) including the intersection with Marshs Road.
Christchurch drivers are advised to avoid State Highway 1 through Rolleston this afternoon if at all possible. A long stretch of highway lane is being repaired and there are delays on either side of Rolleston as traffic is restricted to one lane with Stop/Go

The left hand southbound lane on State Highway 1 at Western Hills Drive will be closed just south of Manse Street for repairs and resurfacing. The other southbound lane will remain open.
