Roadworks scheduled to take place this weekend on the Kamo Bypass (State Highway 1) have been postponed due to forecast bad weather.
The Kamo Bypass was to be closed to all traffic this weekend so contractors could do work to create a smoother journey for vehicles travelling over the railway lines.
The closure has now been moved to 6pm Friday 4 March until 6am Monday 7 March,.
There will be no vehicle access to the Bypass during that period and barriers will be in place at all intersections with the Bypass. Traffic from the state highway will be diverted via Kamo Road and Great North Road.
The work will be carried out during the day and night and the NZ Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconvenience to nearby residents. Every effort will be made to do the noisiest work as early in the night as possible.
The Transport Agency says motorists planning to use the area during the weekend should plan ahead and allow more time to get to your destination.
Work further south on State Highway 1 at Western Hills Drive will go ahead as planned.
The road is being resurfaced to ensure it is well maintained and safe for all road users.
The outer lanes northbound and southbound will be closed between Cheviot Street and Fourth Avenue until March 11.
The work which started this week, is expected to be completed in three weeks.
