Tasman Journeys, the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency highway maintenance team, will be making Whakatu Drive, part of SH6, a smoother ride next week filling ruts in the road.
As a result, Whakatu Drive will be closed overnight for four nights, Tuesday to Friday, 22 to 25 March, 8pm to 5am the next day, says Waka Kotahi Journey Manager Tresca Forrester.
“If the weather is wet, Sunday night, 27 March may be used to complete this work before winter,” she says.
The night hours are when traffic volumes are lowest.
The detour route is the same as for the recent successful repairs to the SH6 median safety barrier, ie Main Road Stoke (see map below).
