With the All Blacks playing Argentina this Saturday (10 August), drivers can expect more traffic on Wellington highways as fans come from out of town to see the match.
Mark Owen, Regional Manager Lower North Island/ Top of the South, says major sporting events like this create extra traffic, which can mean longer travel times.
‘If you’re coming to Wellington this weekend, please plan carefully and allow more time for your journey. For the rugby fans, you want to make sure you get into the city in time for the game.”
The game kicks off just after seven pm, and Sky Stadium will open to fans at five pm. The match is expected to end around 8:45 pm.
Mr Owen says there will also be more traffic after the game as people head home.
“Please be patient and drive carefully when heading out of the city after the game. We want people to have a memorable weekend for all the right reasons, not because they got caught in a traffic jam or were involved in a crash.”
Mr Owen also asks people to be aware of the weather on game day.
“This is a winter game and Wellington weather can quickly take a turn for the worse. Please, keep an eye on the road and weather conditions and drive accordingly.”
