Waka Kotahi thanks Saddle Road users for patience

Work to further improve the resilience of Saddle Road has largely been completed.

Over the past fortnight, contractors have been working on the key route between Woodville and Ashhurst to resurface the road.

Contractors also took the opportunity to inspect and repair signs and edge marker posts; clear vegetation and sumps and other culvert inspections.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency System Manager for Manawatū-Whanganui / Taranaki, Rob Service, says it’s been a busy and very important two weeks for roading crews.

“We appreciate it’s been frustrating for road users who rely on this crucial connection between Manawatū and Hawke’s Bay.

“The work was needed and contractors have worked hard to get as much done as they have.

“I want to extend my thanks to all road users for their understanding during this time. There will be some smaller delays, controlled by stop/go signs, for the remainder of the week – up to 10 minutes – as more resurfacing takes place,” says Mr Service.
