Vehicles will be back on the south-bound lanes of the Ngaruawahia section of the Waikato Expressway during the Anzac long weekend.
The south-bound lanes have been closed while contractors work on the final seal over the past few weeks, with traffic detoured through Ngaruawahia.
The NZ Transport Agency says contractors will stop work on all state highway sites in the Waikato from 12pm on Friday April 24 until the morning of Tuesday April 28, to avoid disrupting long weekend traffic.
During this time vehicles will be moved back onto the southbound lanes of the Ngaruawahia section of the expressway. A 50km/h speed restriction will be in place on work site areas.
The final seal work and detour will resume on Tuesday.
On the Cambridge section of the expressway, a 50km/h speed restriction is in place on SH1 between Golf Hill and Tirau Road until May 6.
Motorists are advised to expect minor delays during peak traffic periods. From 6pm on April 28 until 5am the following day, stop/go traffic management will be in place to allow contractors to start road rehabilitation works on the same section.
Other road work sites where delays are possible are detailed below to allow motorists to plan ahead when travelling.
