A gas leak on State Highway One north of Paekakariki, Wellington is still causing significant delays both north and southbound between Plimmerton and Paraparaumu.
“I can confirm that the Paekakariki Hill Road is now closed. However we have now opened State Highway 1 to two lanes, under a 30 km/h temporary speed limit,” Richard Hocken, Chair, Regional Transport Response Team.
Currently motorists should avoid using the coast road and make other arrangements, including delaying travel if possible.
“Traffic is still significantly delayed, and we expect that the delays to continue through and beyond the evening peak.”
