Whitby residents and regular users of State Highway 58 between Paremata roundabout and Postgate Drive need to be ready for a series of night closures next week.
Contractors will be carrying out essential maintenance along the state highway corridor. This will include clearing slips, vegetation, and other general maintenance work.
It means there will be night closures on Monday, and Tuesday nights between 9 pm and 4:30 am. Local road detours will be available but will mean slightly longer travel times.
Access to the closure zone will be available to residents and emergency services.
Waka Kotahi understands roadworks and full road closures are inconvenient for drivers. However, regular upkeep and maintenance of highways is essential and helps prevent more expensive and disruptive repairs.
We have timed these works to happen at night when traffic flows are lighter to minimise the impact as much as possible.
