The NZ Transport Agency is advising the Terrace Tunnel, State Highway 1 has closed following a serious crash.
Due to the crash, there is heavy traffic into and out of Wellington.
We recommend avoiding the area or delaying travel, if possible, but please note alternative routes are available into and out of the city. We advise drivers to allow extra time for travel.
The NZ Transport Agency wants to thank road users for their understanding and patience. We will be providing an update as soon as the tunnel has reopened.
