Take your time, enjoy the ride and drive to the conditions.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is reminding motorists throughout Manawatū-Whanganui and Taranaki to take care on the roads this long Matariki weekend.
The Metservice forecast for Matariki looks calm and sunny for all three areas
NZTA Regional Manager of Maintenance and Operations, Rua Pani, says the roads will undoubtedly be busier.
“By keeping up to date with the NZTA Journey Planner, people can minimise their travel time and make the most of the destination.
“Allow plenty of time. You’re on holiday, there’s no need to rush.
“Crews are downing tools for the long weekend, to minimise disruption for travellers but as always, while travelling around, please drive to the conditions, and be aware of possible delays, temporary traffic management, and lower speeds through areas where work has been carried out.
“We want to see everyone get where they’re going – and home again safely this long weekend,” says Ms Pani.
