Update 13 April:
Unfortunately, the original Traffic Bulletin had the wrong times for these works. This resealing is being carried out at night, not during the day as previously indicated. The correct hours are 7.30 pm to 6.00 am.
Waka Kotahi apologises for the error.
Residents and regular users of State Highway 60 through Tākaka need to be ready for planned resurfacing work starting next week.
Between Tuesday, 11 April and Friday, 12 May, Waka Kotahi contractors will resurface State Highway 60 Commercial Street between Reilly Street and Haldane Road.
The work will be done between 7.30 am and 6.00 pm.
Temporary speed restrictions will be in place, and traffic management staff will control traffic. There will be traffic management in place overnight with temporary speed limits as well. Minor travel delays are possible.
As some of this resurfacing work is outside Golden Bay High School, we have chosen to get the job started during the school holidays to minimise disruption to pupils, staff, and parents.
Its timing may be affected by weather and any unforeseen circumstances. However, our contractors will try to complete this work by 12 May.
Residents and drivers are urged to drive carefully through the works site and obey the temporary speed limits. They are for your safety and that of our contractors.
Waka Kotahi appreciates road works do cause delays and frustration for drivers. However, works like this are essential for keeping our highways safe for road users. Regular maintenance also helps prevent costlier repairs and even greater disruptions on the state highway network.
