State Highway 7 has been closed by two separate incidents this afternoon, a fire within the Waipara township and a crash north of Culverden.
The NZ Transport Agency’s Journey Manager Lee Wright says the highway is closed from the State Highway 1 Waipara Junction to Culverden because of a property fire near the intersection of Glenmark Drive.
“There is a detour in place. However, if motorists are travelling beyond Culverden, they need to be advised a crash 1km north of the Leslie Hills Road intersection has closed SH7 to the Hanmer Springs turnoff and there is no detour.”
She says motorists are advised to take extra care in the area and keep up-to-date with what is happening on the highway by calling freephone 0800 4 HIGHWAYS or visiting the website www.highwayinfo.govt.nz(external link)
