The NZ Transport Agency is advising Kawarau Falls Bridge users, especially shift workers, that night work from Sunday, 26 March will mean the bridge is only open to traffic on the hour for 10 minutes, between 11pm and 6am.
These bridge closures are necessary so a retaining wall on the north side for the new two-lane bridge abutment can be built.
Stop/ Go traffic management will be in place.
Work starts on Sunday, 26 March, at 7 pm and is scheduled to end on Friday 31 March.
The Transport Agency thanks all residents for being patient while this key piece of work is carried out. There may be some noise and vibrations.
If people can plan their night travel to coincide with the ten-minute hourly openings at the bridge between 11pm and 6am, they can minimise disruptions to their travel plans.
