State Highway 29 near the Maungatapu Bridge is now fully open with a temporary reduced speed limit of 50 km/h advises the NZ Transport Agency.
“All lanes are now open, the speed limit has been reduced as we still need to permanently secure the bridge railing damaged in yesterday’s serious crash, this 50 km/h speed limit will be in place until repairs are completed”, says Highways Manager Brett Gliddon.”
Mr Gliddon says in the interim temporary fencing has been erected to secure the damaged bridge railing.
“We thank drivers for their assistance and patience during the closure and while we repair the damaged bridge railing,” says Mr Gliddon.
