The NZ Transport Agency is advising that due to very strong winds, Remutaka Hill, State Highway 2 between Kaitoke and Featherston is closed.
Road users are advised to delay travel or use the detour via State Highway 1 to Ōhau, State Highway 57 and either Pahīatua Track or Saddle Road. Please note the detour will add approximately three hours to the journey time.
An update will be posted on our website and social media pages as soon as the road is reopened.
