A section of State Highway 1B (Gordonton Road) approximately 2km southeast of the Taupiri roundabouts will be closed overnight on Monday 29 April.
The temporary closure is to allow tie-in works to be carried out in relation to the ongoing construction of the Ngaruawahia Section of the Waikato Expressway.
NZTA Waikato Expressway Principal Project Manager, Richard Young, says the road will be closed from 8.00 pm on Monday night and it will reopen at 5.30 am on Tuesday morning.
“These works are being carried out overnight to minimise disruption to commuter and other daytime traffic,” says Mr Young. “A sign-posted detour will be in place via Bankier Road, Horsham Downs Road, Lake Road, Horotiu Bridge Road and returning to SH 1 at Horotiu.
Motorists using the detour may also wish to allow for an extra 10 minutes for their journey time if travelling through this area overnight.
“It would be preferable for motorists to avoid this area if possible during these times and use SH1,” Mr Young says.
