Bad weather on Sunday night meant this road resurfacing work for the Aotea offramp could not be completed as planned.
This work has been rescheduled for this Thursday night (4 July) between 11 pm and 2 am.
The closure is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if more wet weather occurs
Due to resourcing issues the timing for this closure has been changed and will no longer proceed as initially planned this Thursday night.
Instead, the Aotea offramp will now be closed for maintenance this Sunday night (30 June) between 11 pm and 1 am.
Drivers using the urban motorway into Wellington this Thursday night (27 June) must avoid using the Aotea offramp.
The offramp, which links to Aotea Quay and the Wellington CBD, will be closed to all traffic from 11 pm to 1 am.
The closure is needed to allow urgent resurfacing work in an area where a pothole is forming. Because of the offramp is a single lane, it must be closed while repairs are completed. The work has been deliberately timed to happen at night when traffic volumes are lower.
With the offramp closed drivers will have to use alternate routes to the Wellington CBD, such as Hutt Road at the Ngauranga interchange, or the Murphy Street offramp.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance thank drivers for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
