The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) advises speed restrictions will be in place around the intersection of Ruffell Road and State Highway 1 from next week as work on the Te Rapa section of the Waikato Expressway enters its final stages.
Work is underway to install traffic signals at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Ruffell Road.
Construction is expected to take about four weeks during which time traffic in the area will be restricted to 50km per hour, at times.
There will be shoulder closures in the area with the lanes narrowed slightly to allow for footpath preparation and drainage works.
NZTA Waikato Expressway principal project manager Richard Young asked motorists to please observe the speed restrictions and take care when driving through the site.
The NZTA thanks motorists for their patience and assistance while this work is being undertaken.
The works are the second stage of the three stage opening on the Te Rapa section of the Expressway in the lead up to officially opening the entire 7.3km Te Rapa section in early December.
The three stages include:
