The Tecoma Street on and off ramps to State Highway 1 at Ellerslie will be closed to all traffic for the first two weeks in October as part of work to build noise walls in the area.
The NZ Transport Agency is installing concrete sound barriers next to the motorway to reduce traffic noise and disturbance to people living nearby.
High traffic volumes mean the ramp closures are needed to protect motorists and crew who’ll be working in the area.
The work, which is dependent on fine weather, will take place from Saturday 30th September until Monday 30th October.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these important infrastructure upgrades and thank you for your patience and understanding.
The noise walls through the Ellerslie section of the motorway are expected to be completed by February next year.
More information about the programme to install noise walls is available on the project website.
The Transport Agency would like to advise you that due to continuing design changes arising from unforeseen pre-existing ground conditions, the full closure of the Tecoma Street on ramp is set to continue at this stage, and it is hoped that this work will be completed by the 7th November 2017. If all goes well (weather permitting), we hope to have the on ramp open by Monday evening the 6th November 2017.
We apologise once again, for any inconvenience caused by these important infrastructure upgrades and thank you for your patience and understanding.
