Southern Motorway crash

|

This is to advise you that all southbound lanes on Auckland’s Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) at Market Road have re-opened after a crash earlier this afternoon, but congestion on the network remains severe.

Slow moving southbound queues of traffic are back to St Marys Bay.  Although northbound lanes of the motorway were not affected by the crash, queues on these lanes go back as far as East Tamaki as drivers slow down past the crash scene.

Congestion is also heavy at the city end of the Northwestern Motorway (SH16).

The NZ Transport Agency says it will take some time for congestion to clear as they afternoon peak begins.  The Transport Agency advises people to drive with care and patience, or to consider delaying their journeys.
